The shore cocoons itself in sea,
prone & cold, a comforter to snuggle
while dreaming of marriages or
watching early-October horror films.
The sea wears the shore off the shoulder:
a slinky silk number bordering on oriental.
The sea prances in mirrors dawning the shore
decked in curlers and parody-red lipstick.
